In the 2nd quarter 2013, the movement of goods in Portuguese maritime ports increased by 14.1% in year-on-year terms (+3.2% in the 1st quarter 2013). Transport of goods in railway mode kept a declining trend
(-1.9%), but less so when compared with the previous quarters (-18.9% in the 1st quarter 2013).
In national airports, there were increases in the number of airplanes (+1.4%) and passengers (+4.9%) but reductions in cargo and mail (-2.5%), when compared with the same period of the previous year.
In road freight transport, the downward trend was interrupted with a 9.2% year-on-year growth in total tonnage transported.
The transport of passengers continued to decrease in inland waterways (-1.4%), in heavy railway mode
(-3.3%) and in light railway mode (-6.9%), but with a lower pace than in the previous quarters.
