In the 2nd quarter of 2023, according to the flash estimate of International Trade in goods, exports and imports decreased by 5.2% and 6.2%, respectively, in nominal terms, compared to the same period of 2022.
This decrease follows a slowdown in the growth of the trade in goods, which had been occurring since the 3rd quarter of 2022.
Since the 4th quarter of 2020 (in exports) and the 1st quarter of 2021 (in imports), both quarters strongly affected by the pandemic crisis, no negative quarterly year-on-year growth rates had been recorded in trade in goods.
In the 1st quarter of 2023, the year-on-year growth rates were +13.0% in exports and +8.9% in imports.
