Organizational aspects Statistics Portugal is the national statistical authority responsible for implementing the RA09 and sending the respective results to international organisations. For the implementation of the RA09 Statistics Portugal obtained the collaboration of the Ministry of Agriculture, Rural Development and Fisheries and its organisation at regional level, as well as the participation of the Regional Statistical Office of the Azores, the Regional Directorate of Statistics of Madeira and also the Regional Directorate for Community Agricultural Affairs of the Azores and the Regional Directorate for Agriculture and Rural Development of Madeira. Legislation In the European Union, the agricultural census is framed by laws specifically designed for this purpose. The adoption by all Member States of concepts, classifications and harmonized procedures will ensure the comparability of final results. The last agricultural census conducted - 2009 Agricultural Census (RA09) - adopts the precepts of Regulation (CE) n.º 1166/2008 of the European Parliament and the Council of 19 November 2008, and general guidelines for their application and Regulation (CE) nº. 1200/2009 the Commission's November 30, 2009). Although the frame imposed by this common legislative basis, there is enough flexibility to adapt the instruments for collecting and observing the specific characteristics of each country guaranteeing thus the interest and the needs national users. |
