Concepts
  • REFERENCE PERIOD:  The length of time for which data are collected, e.g. a specific day, month or year.
  • RESIDENT POPULATION:  Set of persons who, regardless of being present or absent in a given housing unit at the moment of observation, have lived in the place of their usual residence for a continuous period of 12 months prior to the moment of observation, or have arrived to the place of their usual residence during the period of 12 months prior to the moment of observation, with the purpose of living there for a year, at least.
  • MAIN SOURCE OF INCOME:  The main source from which a person takes his/her financial means or commodities he/she needs to survive during the reference period. The following categories are normally taken into account: - income from work, in which a person's primary source of subsistence is guaranteed by income received as an employee and from self-employment, in direct connection with his/her occupation; - depending on family, in which a person's main means of subsistence comes from family members; (See continuation in Notes.)
  • AGE GROUP:  The age interval in years to which a person belongs at the time of reference .
